After a six year recording hiatus, bassist extraordinaire Victor Bailey will be releasing a three song sampler entitled “JUST WAIT” in October 2008, in anticipation of the late 2008/early 2009 release of his highly anticipated new cd “Slippin' N' Trippin”.

About the long layoff Bailey states “I've been in record company limbo. One company went bankrupt, then kept telling me they'd be back in business for three years. Then I signed with another company and nothing happened for another three years. So I finally decided to pick up the pieces and record the new cd myself, and start my own label “Studio Vee Records”, to release it. It's been a lot of hard work and it's taken a tremendous amount of time and effort, but I think I've come up with my best record yet”!

The main difference on this record, says Bailey is “I wanted to make more of a “bass” record this time. My previous records have featured lots of special guests, on all instuments, but this time I was looking to have more songs featuring my bass playing”. He is also an accomplished keyboard player, which he features prominently for the first time on this cd, and listeners will be quite surprised at his facility on the synthesizers. Some standout tunes include the showstopping “Ape School” showcasing his patented and innovative “triplet thump” technique. ”I've been doing “triplet thump” since I was I high school in the seventies,and have heard quite a few other bassist try to use it, but I never recorded anything using it before. Now you will hear what “triplet thump” is really all about. And not in a technical way, but puttin' up some serious funk with it! Another great track is a blistering rendition of the John Coltrane classic “Countdown” with iconic jazz giant Ron Carter supplying some amazing walking bass alongside Bailey's mind boggling bass/scat performance. And the sheer beauty of the _ ballad “I Wonder” will have Bailey's beautiful bass melody and singing solos ringing in your head long after you've had a listen.

Guest artists on the cd include the aforementioned Ron Carter, Lenny White, Billy Cobham, Mino Cinelu, Omar Hakim, Casey Benjamin and Perter Horvath. Says Bailey “to coincide with my October 2008 Asian and European tours, we will be releasing the three song sampler cd entitled “JUST WAIT”. There will be three songs from the Slippin' N' Trippin' cd, and is intended to whet your appetite, so you have a taste of what's to come when the cd is finally released.

It will be available at Victor Bailey website, iTunes Store, and CD Baby in early October. It will include Ape School, I Wonder and a third surprise tune, sure to shock all who think they know Victor Bailey.

Look for the Victor Bailey Group worldwide tour starting in October 2008, featuring drummer Poogie Bell, saxophonist/keyboardist Casey Benjamin and keyboardist Peter Horvath. The cd sampler “JUST WAIT” will be available for purchase at venues during the tour.
