The Distance Between Zero and One
Genre: Electronic/Dubstep/Free Improvisation. Recorded and mixed at The Bunker Studio, Brooklyn, NY by John Davis. Nerve is a trio that consists of JoJo Mayer on Drums, John Davis on Bass, and Takuya Nakamura on Synths and Trumpet. Their sound can be described as a combination of Dubstep, IDM, Jungle, and Free Improvisation. After the successful debut of “Prohibited Beats” in 2009, Nerve delivers their second full length "The Distance Between Zero and One" on the 11th July.
"The Distance Between Zero and One" is the result of Nerve's ongoing experiments in the studio; an approach to recording that blurs the lines between improvisation, programming, production and composition, and it finds a space that intertwines cohesive structure and an effortless flow of musical language and culture. From seemingly unplayable breakbeats and multi-layered rhythms to sub bass attacks and resonant acid lines to dense pads and intricate synth hooks, Jojo, John, and Tak perform these sounds in real time, on real instruments.
This new approach to creating electronic music breaks down the barriers of jazz, rock, art, and dance and invites everyone to witness, participate, and collaborate in finding the comfort of the unknown. By allowing the music of Nerve to break down these walls and constructs, a discovery is made into the non-linear equation and the infinite circumference of "The Distance Between Zero and One."
