Antonio Forcione Quartet Technical Rider

Technical Rider to the Agreement made between the Promoter and the Antonio Forcione Quartet, hereafter referred to as the Artist.

The following specification of all equipment within this Rider should be provided for the Artist without any cost implications to the Artist. Compliance with this Rider is the responsibility of the Promoter. Any changes or modifications must be agreed with the Artist or the Artist's Tour Manager well in advance of the performance. In the event that the Promoter fails to meet the technical specifications outlined below, the Artist retains the right to cancel the engagement without any further obligation, penalty or liability for damages or losses incurred by the Promoter.

SOUND

A professional 3 or 4 way stereo sound system with independent sub bass control should be provided, inclusive of any delay array systems needed to give the venue an evenly distributed system, capable of delivering the same SPL to every seat which is available for sale in the venue.

Preferred Systems:
L'Accoustics V-dosc / DV-dosc, D&B audiotechnik, Meyer, Martin, EAW.

Front of House (minimum requirements):

Preferably Midas XL3/4, H1000/3000, Yamaha PM series, DM2000.
– A minimum of 24 channels dedicated to the band should be available on the console.
– 2 Channel 31 band 3rd Octave 'Guest' EQ to be inserted over main system, independent of main system EQ.
– Complete access to all PA system controllers.
– 2 Reverb/Effects units, preferably Lexicon 81/91, TC Electronic, Yamaha SPX 900/990.
– 1 Delay unit with tap function, TC Electronic, Roland SDE 3000/300.
– 6 Channels of Gate – Drawmer DS201.
– 6 Channels of compression, preferably Avalon, TL audio, dbx, BSS.
– 1 CD player & 1 MD Recorder.

Monitors:

Preferably Midas XL3/4, H1000/3000, Yamaha PM series, DM2000, Electrovoice S200 db.
– 4 mixes on 5 monitors are required, each with a 31 band 3rd octave EQ inserted over every mix. (Preferably BSS 960, Klark-tecknik 360)
– Preferred monitors are 12” L'Accoustic, Audio Analysis, Claire Bros.
– Self-powered monitors are not acceptable unless agreed with the tour manager.
– A 'talkback' system should be in place for communication between FOH and Monitors.
– 1 Reverb unit, Lexicon, Yamaha SPX 990/900, TC Electronic.
– In venues without the sufficient space and facilities, monitors can be operated from front of house, providing there is a 31 band 3rd octave EQ inserted over every mix & positioned at front of house (BSS 960, Klark-tecknik 360).

Front of House & Monitor notes:

The Artist will provide a FOH engineer to mix the show and direct all local crew during the load in. If monitors are not to be operated from FOH, the Promoter should provide a monitor engineer at no additional cost to the Artist.

The FOH console should be situated in a central position in the venue, directly facing the stage, neither under nor on any balcony levels. The console should be in a mix position of the main PA system and not any delay systems that may be in place.

An intercom system is to be in place between the sound desk and stage.

All equipment must be completely set up at least 2 hours prior to Artist's load in (please follow timings provided). Before the AFQ engineer arrives, FOH and monitor consoles should be patched and checked in accordance with input lists provided and stage box and multicore system must be line tested.

Sound and lighting equipment must be on separate phases of mains to avoid any interference within the multicore system.

BACKLINE

All backline equipment listed is to be provided by the Promoter and set up in accordance with the stage plot as indicated.

All power drops specified must be RCD protected and on same phase of mains as sound control and system.

PERCUSSION (down stage right):

1 x Rug/carpet (1.5m x 1.5m)
1 x Table (120cm high x 50cm x 50cm) c/w black cloth cover
3 x Boom Cymbal stands
2 x Snare stands (tall) (at least 130cms)
1 x Boom mic stand (tall)
1 x Non-cushioned bar stool with backrest (min 1.1m high)
1 x Monitor wedge
1 x Case to raise monitor by 1.5m
1 x Small bottle of fresh still water

BASS (centre stage right):

1 x Bass cabinet speaker (preferably 4 x 10 inch, otherwise 2 x 10 inch)
1 x Case to raise monitor and bass cabinet by 1m
1 x 4-socket, 13-amp mains block @ 240V UK connection
1 x Music stand (solid faced not folding)
1 x Piano stool
1 x Small bottle of fresh still water

GUITARS (centre stage):

3 x Acoustic guitar stands
1 x Quality, armless chair
1 x 4-socket, 13-amp mains block @ 240V connection
1 x Monitor wedge
1 x Small bottle of fresh still water

CELLO (centre stage left):

1 x Quality, armless chair

NB:

  • No cables or monitors should run in front of the performers.
  • Please ensure all mains cables and socket blocks are black.
  • NOTES:

  • 8 x BSS or Klark-tecknik quality DI boxes are needed. Please have a spare stock available.
  • LOAD IN & SOUND CHECK

    All backline, power, sound and lighting equipment supplied by the Promoter is to be completely set up prior to Artist’s load in, to avoid any delay with the sound check.

    The FOH engineer will arrive at least 2 hours before band loads in, to verify equipment complies with the technical rider.

    After line test with all instruments in place, the band must have at least 2 hours to sound check before doors open.

    If show timings are to be different from schedule included, then please consult the AFQ tour manager/sound engineer.

    Timings for a typical 7:30p.m performance

    1:30p.m ____ All equipment set-up complete. / FOH engineer arrives.

    1:30p.m - 3:30pm ____ FOH engineer to check system and finalise stage layout.

    2:00p.m ____ Lighting can focus from now onwards. / Concentrate on overhead stage lighting first.

    3:30p.m ____ Band arrives and loads in.

    4:30p.m - 6:30p.m ____ Sound check; plot lights.

    7:00p.m ____ Doors open.

    7:30p.m ____ Concert begins.

    LOCAL CREW & TECHNICIANS

    The Promoter will provide the following crew and technicians at no additional cost to the Artist. The PA technicians must be familiar with all aspects of the system and control equipment.

    Load in: 1 Stagehand
    Concert: 1 PA Technician, 1 Lighting Operator
    Load out: 1 Stagehand, to load out the Artist’s instruments immediately after the
    concert finishes.

    It is the Promoter's responsibility to supply all crew deemed necessary to load out all equipment supplied by the venue or Promoter.

    Hazer is needed for definition on lighting.

    A lighting operator is required and to be provided by the Promoter.
    No follow spot is required.
    Lights must be on a different phase of mains to the sound.
    No ‘chased’ or strobe lighting sequences are needed.

    The AFQ tour manager/sound engineer will provide the lighting operator with accurate lighting plots for the concert.

    DRESSING ROOM REQUIREMENTS

    The Promoter must provide a warm dressing room for the Artist to warm up and change in. The following items should be ready for the Artist on arrival, at no extra cost to the Artist:

    Kettle + tea & coffee
    15 x small bottles of still water
    Vegetarian sandwiches
    Fresh fruit
    Iron & ironing board
    5 x fresh clean towels
    1 x full length mirror
    Hot meal (for 5) to be provided after the concert (unless buy-out has been agreed).
